♥ taping and punching embellies ♥

good morning.  i am sorry for the break in blogging, i have had large card orders to complete and with those shipping today, i can sigh a happy sigh and blog♥

are your kids getting ready to go back to school?  mine are and are very excited this year, i look forward to this time with them.

this week on the MME blog we are focusing on the new The Sweetest Thing line and  i am up today sharing cards created using the new designer tapes.

i created several cards today, all using the new tapes, for the post.  i love my tapes (as you may have noticed) and it was fun to share how to create embellishments and patterned papers using your tapes.

here are a couple of the cards i created for today's post

 hello card
(punched butterfly embellies)

such a happy day card
(patterned paper background)

The tapes have become one of my go-to embellishments to add that little something extra to all my cards and projects.   There are so many things you can do with these tapes from creating patterned paper blocks, creating handmade embellishments, adding a finishing strip to any projects or a strip to dress up an envelope, they are so much fun.

you are my sunshine card
(postage stamp squares)

 you are the best card
(punched butterflies and hexagon)

I love that you can use the smallest piece of tape to create something so unique and beautiful.  To create the cards I adhered strips of the designer tape to a block of white cardstock, alternating the patterns.

I then punched shapes using my Martha Stewart Magnetic Punch All Over the Page Butterfly Punch, Papertrey Ink stamp die and Sizzix 2" Hexagon dies.

In order to have my patterns line up the way I want on my embellishments, I flip my block of card stock with the tapes upside down so I can see the shape through the punch before punching the shapes. It helps to have a magnetic punch but I have created these without magnetic punches.

and then you have your "punched" shape to create your embellies for your page or cards.  and, as you can see, I never waste a "negative" punched piece of card stock either, they make the cutest note cards to let someone know that you are thinking of them.  You can stitch the block of card stock, adhere a little trim, stamp a sentiment onto a small card base and you have a note card in no time at all.  Every bit of this card was made of scraps off of my desk.

 hello card

♥ MME designer tape love ♥

good morning.  how are you?  do you have crafty plans this weekend?  i am going to try to finish up some projects but i am also going to take some mommy time for my babes.  before i go out to play with them in the sunshine, i wanted to share my project this week over at the MME blog.

our friday post features projects selected by Jana, Anam and myself from our Pinterest MME Inspiring Pages & Cards page.

i chose this card from the incredibly talented Tracie Claiborne

i absolutely LOVE her gorgeous palette and design.  i love that you could use this design over and over with the gorgeous patterns in all of the MME lines, with MME scraps or the brand new MME Indie Chic Designer tape.

i chose to create my version using the new tapes i received.  these are so beautiful, have beautiful patterns and adhere beautifully to a piece of cardstock.

here is the designer tape i decided to use for this card

your smile makes life sweet card

i began my card by cutting a piece of white cardstock 3 x 5".  i then began applying the strips of tape on a diagonal.  when i was finished applying the strips, i turned the card over and cut off the excess tape.  i ran my card front through my sewing machine with different stitches on the tapes.

embellishing the card was easy since the new Ginger layered stickers make it easy to dress up any card.

i then tied twine through the Ginger buttons (direction) and adhered them to the card front

i then adhered the card front to a card base.  this design could be used over and over with designer/washi tapes or scraps of papers you can not bring your heart to throw out.

thank you Tracie for the gorgeous inspiration.  please make sure to check out her blog, but only when you have time to look around, it's incredible.
